City women networking

Membership Join a diverse network of senior female leaders.

CWN is a vibrant and thriving organisation that is comprised of senior businesswomen in the UK. We welcome accomplished professional women who are interested in leveraging the collective talent and support of like-minded individuals but who also wish to contribute in a meaningful way to the success of our shared objectives.

Membership Criteria

Our membership is comprised of senior women, as defined in our constitution as 'women who have held professional, executive or managerial positions at a senior level for at least five years'.  CWN members are a diverse group of Managing Directors, Partners, Non-Executive Directors, Trustees, members of Livery Companies, Entrepreneurs and women in the management ranks of corporate and public sector companies.  We also have a rising star population of more junior women who demonstrate promise and commitment to CWN’s values.

Originally founded in 1978 in support of women in Financial Services and Law, CWN has now grown to include senior women from across industry in the UK, including Technology, Management Consulting, Media, Real Estate, Accountancy and Publishing, to name a few.

We will consider all applications on their own merits, and encourage interested women to attend events open to non-members to explore the fit between what they seek and what CWN offers. Prior to submitting an application, we ask that you attend at least one Drop-in Drinks and at least two qualifying CWN events.  The Network provides many personal and professional benefits to its members, and we look forward to welcoming you soon to one of our events.

How to Apply

In order to be eligible for membership, applicants must:

Find a Proposer and Seconder who are current members:  We ask that prospective members attend at least two qualifying CWN events, only one of which can be a Drop-in Drinks event.  This will offer you the chance to get to know us a little better and perhaps to identify a Proposer and Seconder (who MUST be current members).

Complete the online application form, which requires that you specify the names of your Proposer and Seconder.  Please note that your application will not be considered unless you have two CWN members who have met you and are prepared to act as your Proposer and Seconder.  In addition, you will be asked to provide your CV and a listing of the events you have attended.

Click here to complete the online application form.

Completed application packages (comprised of online Application, CV, and Proposer and Seconder forms) are brought to the Board for approval.  The CWN Board meets monthly, and in most cases we would hope to have a fairly prompt response to you, dependant of course on timing of your application and the next suitable Board meeting.

You can always expect a warm welcome from the members of CWN at any event you might attend; we will be keen to meet you and hear what brings you to CWN.

Though I have always been an ardent supporter of women at all levels in the workplace, I’ve always found that the mission and vision of most women’s networks are too broad to meet the needs of all participants.  More than just a network, CWN focuses on developing senior women such that they have the roadmap and skills to access C-level roles and beyond but doesn’t forget that women alone can’t make that happen.  I joined CWN because it espouses that constructive, honest dialogue with leaders who may not be female is not only critical to ensuring the success of greater women into positions of power of influence, but mandatory.
