City women networking

Research CWN frequently participates in research around issues facing senior female leaders.

The CWN is a source for researchers and the media alike and but also tracks research that is topical to our membership.

CWN boasts a number of experts across multiple industries. Our professionals participate in research and media interviews that are driven by their expertise as much as by gender. Though we fully endorse and support initiatives specific to women who are of our professional demographic, we are keen to ensure that we are regarded as captains of industry regardless of gender.

The most common research trend at the moment is related to women on boards. Lord Mervyn Davies of Abersoch is currently running a consultation process that includes men and women from around the UK to determine why there is a lack of women on boards and potential solutions. Many of the CWN members have participated, including Dr. Ruth Sealy, Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the International Centre for Women Leaders at the Cranfield School of Management.

While it is essential that the boards of UK companies are meritocratic, the fact that there are only 131 female directors in FTSE 100 companies means that we cannot be using all the skills and talents that make our workforce so competitive.
