A select group of CWN members saw the dark and thought-provoking play Through a Glass Darkly at the Almeida Theatre in Islington on the 22nd of July.
Through a Glass Darkly by Ingmar Bergman is a haunting play about Karin, a young married woman on an annual family vacation on an isolated Swedish Island. Karin, like her mother before her, suffers from mental illness and goes through an acute episode which spirals out of control during the holiday. We learn about Karin and also about how her husband, father and brother react to this frightening experience.
The acting by all cast members was outstanding and we had a spirited discussion over a glass of wine during the intermission. Longstanding CWN member Diane Morris has a family connection who is a talent agent in Los Angeles and was actively scouting star Ruth Wilson who she thought held great promise for the lights of Hollywood.

CWN is a great mix. There are events that are serious, that cover topics that are new to me, and there are events that are fun. There are people from a range of sectors, some in the City, many not. There are also plenty of opportunities for collaboration and friendship.
