CWN committees

New CWN members generally find that joining one or more committees is a great way of quickly getting to know other members. It also provides an enjoyable and beneficial introduction to the activities of the Network.

Forthcoming committee meetings are listed on the Committee Contacts page in the Members section.

Business Committee

The primary role is to create opportunities for our corporate and entrepreneurial members to engage with contemporary topics of professional interest to senior business women. Focus for 2008:

  • Arrange formal presentations around business leadership, people management, financial and entrepreneurial themes, including joint events with Personal Development Committee
  • Arrange informal business networking events to facilitate sharing of best practice and experiences around functional disciplines and business topics

We will also establish contact with selected corporate women's networks with a view to collaborating with them on topics of interest and shared venues.

Marketing Committee

The remit is to deal with all aspects of CWN's marketing, including: developing a marketing strategy and plan; attracting new members (in liaison with the Membership Committee); enhancing and promoting CWN membership to members and potential members; forging links with other women’s networks; and securing sponsorship.

For 2008/09 in particular, the Committee will focus on promoting the CWN’s 30th Anniversary Programme of events.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee organises about eight Drop-in Drinks receptions a year where members and potential members have a chance to meet and talk in an informal setting. The Committee handles all enquiries about CWN membership, processes applications and, through the "Buddy" scheme, ensures that new and potential members are welcomed into the Network. The Committee works closely with the Marketing Committee. From time to time, it also conducts surveys to gain feedback on member services and benefits and organises special events.

An excellent Committee for those members interested in contributing to outreach activities, building profile for the network and collaborating on event development. Typically the Committee meets once a month in London or by teleconference.

Professional and Personal Development Committee

The role is to keep CWN members informed and up-to-date with developments and topical issues which concern all aspects of women in the industries and areas in which they work. From corporate social responsibility to haute couture, recent events include The Glass Ceiling, Sexism in the City, Developments in Coaching and An Evening at Locks Hatters in St. James’s.

Social Activities Committee

The Social Activities Committee exists to connect members in a relaxed social atmosphere. It aims to organise social events that are of interest to members and enable members to network. Examples include events that are image related, events at designer shops, art displays, theatre evenings, cocktail drinks, exhibitions, sponsorship charity events, dinners and so on.

At least 6 events should be organised per annum. These events should be arranged in full co-ordination with other committees in order to prevent clashes of dates and overlap.
