| Information: | CWN invites you to an evening of lively discussion, and potential debate, with three European-based recipients of the prestigious 2009 TIAW World of Difference 100 Awards. The awards are a key plank of global network The International Alliance of Women’s strategy to lift the economic status of women around the world, through entrepreneurship, micro-finance and women on boards.
Hear how these very different, but equally remarkable women continue to approach the question of economic empowerment among women in a changing social and economic landscape:
Kate Grussing, founder and Managing Director of headhunting firm Sapphire Partners, has long been an advocate of flexible working and showing companies the benefits of investing in women. She has held senior executive positions at JP Morgan and McKinsey, and has recently been profiled in The Sunday Telegraph, the FT, and L’Echo in France and received an award from Red magazine for her work as a mentor.
Mei Sim Lai OBE, is the founder and Principal of chartered accountants LaiPeters & Co, which she set up after leaving Pridie Brewster, where she was a partner. She holds several Government, Charity and City appointments, including running the City branch of the Institute of Directors and their China Interest Group. As a champion of Diversity, she was awarded an OBE for services to Equal Opportunities.
Roswyn Hakesley-Brown CBE is the Chair of the Patients Association and former President of the Royal College of Nursing. A distinguished healthcare consultant, she developed the first Bachelors degree for nurses in the West Midlands. She chaired the taskforce for Refugee Nurses and Midwives and pushed to facilitate their assimilation into the UK healthcare workforce so that they could use their nursing skills obtained in their native countries to achieve economic security in the UK.
Afterwards we will enjoy networking over exquisite canapés and wine prepared especially for the evening by Chef Patron Cyrus Todiwala OBE of Cafe Spice Namaste.
