June 2008 - Power Lunch at The Mercer

CWN launched its pilot power lunch on Thursday 19 June at The Mercer Restaurant in the heart of the City.

When everyone had settled down Anna Westcott (Social Chair) gave a brief description of how the lunch was expected to progress, and once orders were placed Roz Morris current Vice Chair said a few words and gave her objectives for attending.

This was followed around the table with everyone successfully introducing themselves and substantiating their reasons for coming along. One guest attending was a member of our affiliate organisation EPWN from Paris in London on business and was delighted to find an event that was convenient for her to participate in.

As the numbers are limited it meant that people were able to engage in discussion well and everyone had an opportunity to network effectively.

Following the meal attendees swapped business cards, pondered dessert and left to carry on their busy roles.

The lunch was well attended by both old and new members and was successful in achieving its aim - to network. Another aspect that appealed to attendees was the time factor. Everyone liked the idea that it was a quick lunch and an opportunity to literally connect and follow up at leisure. Positive feedback from this event means that it is only the first of many such in the future.
