Angel Investing – What it is, Why it is important and How you could be involved

Angel investors and CWN members Melissa Longley and Galina Markova – who are both passionate about investing in female business founders – will be joined by Sarah Turner, the CEO and co-founder of Angel Academe, an award-winning angel investing network.  

The investment scales have historically been very much tipped towards male business founders.  In 2014, Sarah Turner set out to change this, so that female founders could receive more of the investment pot.  

Sarah is an entrepreneur, NED and angel investor. In 2014 she co-founded Angel Academe whose investors are mainly (but not only) women, often successful leaders in their own right.  Her aim was to invest in women-founded and co-founded technology startups with high growth potential. 

Sarah has been featured in the Financial Times, The Telegraph, The Sunday Times, the Daily Mail and the London Evening Standard. More recently she appeared on Woman’s Hour on BBC Radio 4.

• By tube or train: the closest stations are Mansion House, Cannon Street and Bank
• By foot: a short walk from all the above stations, Queen Street Place can be found by crossing Upper Thames Street from Queen Street. The office entrance is on the corner of Southwark Bridge
